This project surrounds the concept of how people with learning disability's feel like they have to hide behind a mask. But when they find something they truly love they start to bloom out of the stages of the masking stage.
In this project, I started to experiment with different flowers and colours to show different emotions on someone who has learning disability's and feel like they have to mask there learning disability. The masks I have created in this series are hand made.
The masks represent someone who has a learning disability trying to bloom out of the stages of hiding away and slowly realising that disabilities can be embraced.
By creating this project it enables and highlights to people that not all disabilities are visible and a lot of people struggle feeling like they have to act 'normal' when they have a learning disability almost like it is a tabo subject. When in fact all disabilities should be recognised and shown as a empowerment for that person.
